Weather forecast forSmerheller, Vinje (Vestfold og Telemark)

  1. Applies to Deler av Øst- og Sørlandet

The water discharge is expected to increase rapidly in small and medium sized rivers is expected. Water discharge is expected to increase because of rain and snowmelt. This may cause local inundation where river channels are filled with ice and because of frozen ground. It also may cause ice drift in streams, with subsequent local inundation. Large amounts of rain are expected in the warning area. Large snow melting due to rising temperatures is expected. The amount of precipitation is somewhat uncertain. Follow the weather radar. Hydropower production will in some cases act as flood control, and therefore the issued warning will not necessarily apply to all regulated waterways.

  2. Applies to deler av Sør-Norge

Some landslides are expected. A few large slides may occur. Exposed railways and roads may be closed. Heavy snowmelt is expected. The soil water content will increase due to snowmelt. This will increase the danger of (slushflows and) landslides and debris flows along rivers and streams, and in slopes where there is snowmelt. The amount of precipitation, or its location, is somewhat uncertain. Follow the weather radar.
